I told him that I taught yoga, and I invited him to come and join me. I gave him my spare shorts and the shirt on my back (I go shirtless), and he stood up and walked with me to his first class. At the end, a man whom I had never met before, simply because he experienced a taste of what it means to feel well.
We began to meet regularly to speak about breath and self awareness, and I shared my story of before and after my own understanding of Truth, and my own existence in life; a time of homeless hardship that was riddled with resentment, bitterness, and pride.
And he just Listened.
He attended my class weekly. The shift I saw in the quality of his life will never be forgotten. He transcended to the point of becoming a teacher himself, and I not only had the privilege of witnessing his journey from the streets to a mat beside me, but I had the honor of sitting in front of him as he became teacher, and I his Student.
